The patient sits in a comfortable, upright position. The selected medicated oil is warmed to a soothing temperature. A gentle application of oil is done over the scalp, forehead, and neck.
The therapist uses circular, linear, and pressure-point techniques over the scalp. Slow, rhythmic strokes enhance relaxation and absorption of the oil. Special attention is given to Marma points (vital energy points) to improve blood flow. The massage extends to the neck, shoulders, and ears for deeper relaxation The session lasts for 30–45 minutes.
The excess oil is gently wiped off with a warm towel. The patient rests for 10–15 minutes for deeper relaxation. A herbal hair wash or warm water rinse is recommended after a few hours.
